Broadcast media continue to cover drifting and shed a positive light on the sport. CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 aired this 3 minute segment including a great definition of the sport and footage from the Chicago event as well as clips from the new Fast & Furious movie. CNN reporter, Peter Viles promoted drifting when he stated, "Now, as competitive motor sport, drifting is only in its third year in the United States. Think of it as NASCAR's younger and crazier cousin. But the sport is about to get a huge publicity boost in Hollywood." Drift driver Tanner Foust was also interviewed in this segment and added great context for fans gaining interest in the sport, "it's kind of like the Howard Stern of motor sports, where, whether you love the concept or hate it, once you start watching it, you can't take your eyes off it. You get this emotional connection to it and you just want to see what's going to happen next."
Anderson Cooper 360 airs weeknights Monday through Friday from 10 PM to Midnight. Anderson Cooper 360 is a fast-moving, surprising and provocative alternative to the typical network evening newscast, which reaches nearly 400,000 viewers a night. The segment in ad dollars would equate to roughly $8,500 for a 3 minute spot during this show.
